You have traveled or live you know?
San Miguel de Allende (Mexico)
01.05.2009 - 31.07.2009
In Dawson City, we succumb to the almost relaxed tranquility of the far north, the charming Victoria prevent the autumnal temperatures and even worse on the beautiful beach of the Baja California mainland passing the ferry is open daily for the ride.
Now exudes the charming colonial town of San Miguel de Allende, the carefree lifestyle of the south, cool autumn temperatures are strangers here and in the hilly high country calls upon us also no ferry to continue the journey!
Nebulised the magical and colorful atmosphere of the Pueblo Magico our senses, we discover something new every day, get to know extraordinary people and the days fly past unstoppable.
So it's done: our overnight spot monthly book we have, we have Mexican mobile numbers, and now live for around four months in the central highlands, San Miguel de Allende.
In mid-April to pack the last "winter holiday" from the USA and Canada together to make their journey and move mobile homes located in a small convoy on the long trek north.
Now, in the RV park permanently assigned only three places, and as our remaining neighbors are temporarily traveling, we have the RV park practically to ourselves.
Rarely come in this season of new passengers. Maybe two campers per month, which remain either just for a stopover or equal to a week or more.
Anyway, starting in April are significantly less pale faces in the streets of the city to see and we see only the pleasant aspects of underutilized, tourist infrastructure. From July the tourists come back, but San Miguel never seems crowded.
The rainy season is late and accordingly, the dry and dusty June.
The throat is uncomfortable even for short errands, almost painfully dry and one remembers old westerns, where the heroes of the long ride ended in the salon in order to flush the hot dust from the dry throat.
Everyone hopes that the long awaited rain comes soon, and thus the air is cool and dust free.
With artificial irrigation is carried out in RV park in an unequal struggle against the indomitable drought.
Evening gusty winds often meter-high clouds of dust across the square and through the middle of the motor home.
The mouse on the table could just glide still wear, feels then like a sanding block to sand paper.
San Miguel is a city of festivals, art and culture.
Music and fireworks accompany the numerous festivals that are usually on weekends and often celebrated for several days.
Even at church festivals modern open-air live music and fireworks often are an integral part of the event.
At the San Antonio Iglesias is half the night playing music and one of the largest fireworks just before dawn - at around 6:00 clock in the morning - fired deafening! How mad are clamoring to the church bells rung by hand. Unimaginable in Germany!
The Dia de los Locos in June celebrated the "Day of Fools," participate in its colorful and crazy fools parade allegedly 10 000 and over 50 vehicles (see photo gallery Los Locos
). A really silly fun!
Culturally, San Miguel is a treasure trove of special kind of music concerts, dance performances, film festival, exhibitions, and numerous galleries and much more ensure that interested in absolutely will not get bored.
For personal development to offer a variety of arts and crafts courses. These include the learning of musical instruments, dance, jewelry making (see gallery), carpet weaving (see gallery), pottery, painting, photography and much more
Not to mention, the numerous language schools and language teachers remain teaching in addition to Spanish and other languages.
The rainy season begins and the dry dust disappears.
Most afternoons occasionally drag on the otherwise white clouds on blue sky. In the distance, they become denser, darker and come steadily closer.
Tlaloc then quickly accomplishes his work refreshing and can usually shortly followed by the warm glow of the evening sun shine again.
The landscape is changing rapidly. Everywhere greens, sprouts and nature drives.
Sprout "The stuff can be" is the translation of Tlaloc, the name of the rain god of the Aztecs.
In August and September, he will work overtime, because in these months - the expected peak of the rainy season - due to the delayed start. We are excited to report and be!
Our stay in San Miguel we are experiencing an unexpected and enriching stage on the trip so far.
This travel section brings its own unique qualities with him, with whom we have not as expected and we do not miss them also.
We spend the next few weeks in San Miguel and the surrounding area will also be on the road. After the rainy season, the journey continues - if San Miguel leaves us! ![]()
